JVS is a non-profit, non-sectarian agency. Our mission is to empower individuals from diverse communities to find employment and build careers; and to partner with employers to hire, develop and retain productive workforces.

JVS provides a broad range of services including adult education, skills training, job readiness training, job placement and support, and access to post-secondary education. JVS assists employers in their search for well-qualified job applicants and their initiatives to upgrade the skills of their incumbent workforce.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the leadership of the Program Vice President the Disability Program Director builds relationships and develops partnerships with multiple constituents. The Director’s charge is to oversee and expand the education and training programs by developing and maintaining strong relationships with employers, providers, funders and leaders in the disability community. The Director is part of a larger JVS team, all of whom are supporting the education, training, and employment needs of clients and employers.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Building Relationships, collaboration and teamwork:
• Support and promote the mission and philosophy of JVS both internally and outside the
Agency
• Develop strategic plan for program expansion, growth and impact of program services
• Establish relationships with key stakeholders (clients/students, employers, partner
organizations, funders,) and work collaboratively in a structured and on-going manner
• Work collaboratively with and encourage collaboration between JVS departments and divisions to ensure agency performance goals are met
• Provide assistance to other JVS departments when needed
• Lead program planning meetings and team-based projects
• Communicate regularly with Supervisor to ensure successful program performance
• Provide leadership and exemplify resolving disagreements and conflict in a professional an
productive manner
• Participate in and contribute to external groups in the community such as taskforces,
panels, and committees directly related to disabilities.

Program leadership:
• Take ownership of the Director role as leader for JVS staff, clients and partners
• Design and implement an internal audit focused on strengthening the agencies disability
inclusion initiatives
• Increase internal and external visibility of programs
• Hire, train and supervisor program management staff
• Model expected behaviors for JVS staff and clients
• Generate strategy and solutions in response to unforeseen and planned changes, setbacks
and challenges
• Help staff to manage unforeseen changes, setbacks and challenges in a professional and
productive manner
• Assist program managers and staff in areas of difficulty and provide additional support
when needed
• Develop new products and services based on partner organization’s and client feedback
• Assess program success and stakeholder satisfaction, use results to make modifications and
enhancements to services
• Create a work environment where all staff and clients feel heard, can express ideas, learn,
problem solve and succeed

Administrative/Communication
• Provide all supervisees with a written annual evaluation meeting all agency deadlines for
the process
• Contribute to grant proposals and budgets
• Implement agency contract including oversight, reporting and invoicing
• Develop grant proposals, contract budgets and budget modifications
• Prepare and monitors program work plans, in support of JVS and contractual obligations
• Make adjustments in order to meet objectives
• Ensure program activities are in alignment with JVS objectives
• Analyze and report program progress, successes and challenges to JVS leadership, funders,
evaluators and other stake holders
• Controls budgetary expenses and takes remedial action as necessary
• Closely monitors expense and revenue
• Manage and oversee full, timely contract implementation including staffing, systems design
and development
• Perform other duties as requested

MINIMIUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
• Minimum 3 years of program leadership experience
• 7 years of program/contract and people management skills preferred
• Presentation and facilitation skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
• Experience in grant and proposal writing
• Experience in preparation of budgets
• Experience in program development
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Demonstrated ability to work independently
• Strong knowledge and understanding of job development for people with disabilities

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s Degree a Must
