Financial Analyst

As a dynamic contributor to CJP’s operational planning, budgeting, reporting and analysis, the Financial Analyst will participate in the preparation of CJP’s organizational budget, provide monthly financial reporting and analysis, and work directly with budget managers to insure organizational alignment and sound budget management practices.  The primary focus of this position will be the core accounting functions related to Campaign Finance; mainly, journal entries and reconciliations.  In addition, the Financial Analyst will participate in the month-end closing process and the preparation of month-end reporting for management and various committees. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

 

Campaign Related:

  • Responsible for preparing and recording campaign-related journal entries from Maven (CRM system) into Financial Edge (general ledger) and ensuring that both sources reconcile monthly.
  • Responsible for monthly cash collections reporting using Microsoft Power BI.
  • Responsible for the creating of new Fund Codes in Maven, which are used to track designated giving to various programs.

 

Budget Preparation and Support:

  • Assist in the preparation of the organization resource allocation model, budget, forecasts, and reporting including financial review and reconciliation of programs supported by designated giving and internal financial statement analysis.
  • Responsible for working directly with budget managers in the preparation of Property budgets.
  • Responsible for monthly variance report analysis of the Property budgets, which include the Kraft Family Building at 126 High Street and the New England Holocaust Memorial (NEHM).
  • May assist in the preparation of the Operations and Allocations budgets, as needed.
  • Assist in leading organizational budget and variance reporting training

Designated Giving:

  • Responsible for the disbursement of designated gifts to various organizations, agencies, and programs through the grants management system (GELT).
  • Responsible for the monthly preparation of the release-from-restrictions journal entry related to the payout of certain designated gifts that are from temporarily- restricted programs.
  • Responsible for the reconciliation of Maven (CRM), GELT (grants management system) and Financial Edge (general ledger) as they pertain to designated giving.

 

Financial Planning and Analysis:

  • Preparation of monthly reporting and special reporting, as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the multi-year expense reporting analysis in Microsoft Power BI. 
  • Assist with advanced materials preparation and analysis for Committee meetings.
  • Research and respond to requests from budget managers and other stakeholders.

 

Audit Related:

  • Responsible for the preparation of year-end audit schedules, which include contributions receivable, analysis for uncollectible accounts, net present value calculations, and the reconciliation of revenue recorded in Maven (CRM) to Financial Edge (the general ledger).
  • Assist with recording certain year end accruals.
  • Support the year end audit around designated giving and designated gift year end accruals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • BA/BS in Accounting/Finance or Business Administration.

Experience:

  • 2-3 years of general accounting, budgeting, analysis, and audit schedule preparation experience.
  • Familiarity in working with enterprise systems, including general ledger, advanced budgeting, and constituent relationship management.

Skills/Competencies:

  • Knowledge of financial accounting and budget preparation is essential.
  • Strong application systems administration skills, including application maintenance/management, user set-up, and reporting.
  • Experience with Financial Edge, Blackbaud CRM, and Blackbaud Advance Budget Management.
  • Advanced skill level with Microsoft Excel.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Fine attention to detail and strong accuracy skills.
  • Strong prioritization, organization, and follow through skills.
  • Ability to solve problems with varying levels of complexity.
  • Willingness and ability to learn financial systems and leverage technology to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Ability to work on concurrently multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and communication skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities.
