Here you will find past webinars to use as resources that will help you navigate these complex times.

Nonprofit Security Grant Program Preparation Webinar
Thursday, November 3, 2022

Since 2016, Jewish community organizations in Massachusetts have received $11.7 million in funding to support physical security infrastructure improvements through the Federal and Commonwealth Nonprofit Security Grant Programs. Last year alone, 51 Jewish organizations received $3.5 million.

Typically, application information relating to the Commonwealth grant is released available sometime in December or January, and for the Federal grant between February and April. Our expectation is that funding will remain at similar levels to last year, with individual organizations eligible to receive up to $150,000 in funding at the Federal level, and $50,000 through the state grants.

Early preparation is a key factor in drafting a successful application, and we strongly encourage interested institutions to begin their preparation as soon as possible, including taking advantage of our NSGP Preparation Webinar.

These sessions will feature an overview of the application process with grant writer Kerry Newman, who has worked with numerous successful applicants in Massachusetts. She will focus on the critical elements to prepare and include in your application, as well as take time to answer questions from attendees.

CJP Communal Security Initiative Webinar: De-escalation – The H.A.R.M Approach
Wednesday, August 11, 2021 | 12:00pm

De-escalation skills are essential for anyone serving in frontline or public contact roles, whether in a professional or volunteer capacity, as well as for their supervisors. Crises, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, are emotionally-charged events that can result in increased anger and aggressive behaviors from individuals and groups. Hostility, Aggression, Anger & Rage Management (HARM) is a dynamic, 90-minute awareness and skill-building program for anyone likely to encounter emotionally agitated, hostile and/or aggressive behavior in the course of their professional or volunteer work. The HARM program introduces early warning signs for the detection of potentially hostile individuals, strategies for verbal de-escalation and personal safety skills for escaping and surviving violent encounters. During this webinar Steven Crimando addresses some of the situations that staff and volunteers may face in a synagogue, cultural organization, and other communal settings, highlighting critical skills that professional staff, rabbis, cantors, executive directors, board members and others can use to help defuse difficult situations.
