Engagement Manager, Youth and Teens

We are one of Boston's oldest and most respected philanthropic organizations and we are currently seeking an Engagement Manager, Youth and Teens.

 

Reporting to the AVP of Young Adult and Teen Engagement, the Engagement Manager of Youth and Teens will work to build relationships with community agencies, synagogues, schools and programs that serve the FWYC, camping and teen populations. With a focus on understanding the breadth of opportunities within these cohorts, the Engagement Manager will work to promote collaboration and connections among community partners in service of global teen engagement. The primary responsibilities of the position will be: serving as resource and connection point for youth professionals in the community, coordination of networking, co-working and community of practice gatherings, oversight of JJF and CJP awarded teen engagement grantees, administration of camping agenda and representing Boston’s connection to the ten cities within the JJF Funder Collaborative network.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

                                                                                   

·    Acts as liaison to organizations in Greater Boston working in the teen engagement area in support of and coordination with the Relationship Management team of CJP to create strategies which support the work of those organizations and their professionals.

·    Coordinates the various professional development, outreach, co-working and engagement initiatives which take place throughout the year.

·    Serves as liaison to the Jim Joseph Foundation and participates in the National Teen Funder Collaborative

·    Connect with both internal and external data collection efforts to evaluate and measure success in the teen and camping work, and plays a key role in writing reports and proposals

·    With support of a Coordinator, develops and implements CJP’s Camping Initiative–One Happy Camper program--serving as liaison to Foundation for Jewish Camp, deepening the relationship between congregations and camps and significantly increasing participation in Jewish overnight camp

·    Ensure smooth process for all parties involved in One Happy Camper grant process and the Teen Scholarship awards supporting teen Israel Travel); work with admin staff to process applications and checks to camps

·    Engages in the work of the larger Engagement Team and takes on leadership roles as appropriate in other areas of the engagement portfolio

·    Other duties as assigned with or without accommodation.

 

 MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

·                 BA degree, Master’s degree preferred

Experience:

·                 5+ years’ experience in project management or relational engagement

·                 5+ years’ implementing organizational development strategies in, training and development

·      Experience with process improvement

Skills/Competencies:

·      An understanding of non- profit organizations

·      Knowledge of Jewish youth engagement and overnight camp

·      Experience working with synagogues, agencies, and funders

·      Interpersonal skills, relational work

·      Consultative and diagnostic skills

·      Advanced time management and analytical skills

·      Working knowledge of MS Office and project management software

·      Training design and development skills

·      Communication skills: written and oral

·      Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changes and shifting priorities

·      Self-reflective

Other:

·      Willingness and availability to travel for local meetings and to work extended hours as necessary

·      Familiarity with relational engagement

·      Capacity and interest in connecting with teens, educators, clergy, staff and lay leadership.

·      Passion for youth engagement and Jewish overnight camping
