CJP’s Jewish Early Educator Fellowship

Are you seeking meaningful and impactful employment or a volunteer experience making a difference in the lives of younger children in our community?

Many Jewish early childhood centers are struggling to remain open due to staff shortages as they implement COVID-19 reopening guidelines as required by the MA Department of Child Education and Care. CJP’s Early Educator Fellowship* gives college students and recent graduates leads on available jobs, financial incentives, and mentorship opportunities to help them gain valuable job experience or even successfully transition into a rewarding teaching position while providing Jewish early childhood centers with much-needed educators and support staff.

Once hired, qualified fellows will receive:

• a stipend valued at $500**
• an on-site mentor educator
• tailored virtual professional development to learn and apply best practices
• access to a virtual community of practice to connect and learn with other fellows

Volunteer virtually through CJP’s Early Educator Fellowship and Jumpstart

CJP is committed to serving and supporting the Jewish community, but also the greater community at large – especially those most in need – to ensure equitable educational options for all young children.  To that end, CJP’s Early Educator Fellowship is also partnering with Jumpstart, a national early childhood non-profit organization, whose mission is “to provide language, literacy, and social-emotional programming for preschool children from under-resourced communities and promote quality early learning for all.” College students can apply to be a Jumpstart Corps member, utilizing their college work-study program, or as a volunteer – with an option for Americorps eligibility – where they can earn a service award at the end of their completed fellowship. All Jumpstart training and subsequent support to under-resourced community schools is virtual at this time.

• To view eligible job openings at Jewish early childhood centers, visit CJP’s careers in the community center and apply directly to the individual early childhood center. Eligible postings will include “Eligible for CJP’s Early Educator Fellowship” in the job description.If you are hired, the center will apply for the fellowship on your behalf and notify you accordingly. *Fellowships are limited to one per Jewish early childhood center, up to 18 in total. Fellowships will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. If less than 18 unique centers apply, centers may be eligible for a second fellow.
**After 30 days of employment, fellows will receive $250. Upon completion of their fellowship (May 2021), an additional $250 will be provided. Volunteers are not eligible for the stipend.
