Through CJP’s Social Justice (Tzedek) initiative, members of our community can act to solve problems that impact both Jewish communities and the broader society. By seeking justice and equity, we put our Jewish values of caring into action. Efforts this year have focused on preventing homelessness and housing insecurity, helping new immigrants find stability, and responding to developing needs in the wake of the pandemic.

We’re partnering to keep people in their homes. 95% of participants facing eviction in HomeStart's The Renew Collaborative — a program supported by CJP, the Bank of America Foundation, and the United Way — remained stably housed 48 months later.

people have participated in Together We Rise, a three-year partnership with Jewish Vocational Service (JVS). This three-year program helps immigrants move beyond entry-level jobs to provide more stability for their families.

CJP’s Fund for Detained Children continues to support the Young Center and the Interfaith Welcome Coalition in efforts to assist children who were being separated from their families and held in unsafe, unsanitary, and inhumane conditions. To date, more than 500 donors have contributed $424,000 in support of these efforts. Read more

CJP Legal Aid Fund for Immigrants (CLAFI) was born in 2017 and continues to be supported by our community. In total, 387 donors have contributed $811,000 to CLAFI, dramatically increasing legal assistance to thousands of immigrants throughout Greater Boston. Read more
