Older Adults

CJP is proud to partner with Jewish organizations to meet the unique needs of older adults and their families. We’re helping to meet critical needs and enhance health, wellbeing, and quality of life for older adults — in day-to-day living and during times of crisis.

633

CJP funds SeniorDirect, a free information and referral service staffed by eldercare professionals from Jewish Family & Children's Service (JF&CS). Last year, this program fielded 633 calls from more than 400 people looking for support in the areas of home care services, case management, general caregiving, subsidized housing, and benefits assistance.

464
older adults participated in Jewish Family Service of Metrowest's Healthy Aging programs, which include health, wellness, educational, and social programs.

389

JF&CS's Schechter Holocaust Services program supports the physical and emotional well-being of Holocaust survivors in the Boston area. Thanks in part to CJP's support, last year JF&CS was able to serve 389 people.

COVID-19 RESPONSE SPOTLIGHT

Protecting Seniors and Caregivers
We know older adults are at a high risk of both severe health complications from COVID-19 and social isolation. During the pandemic, CJP supported multiple efforts to keep older adults healthy and connected to their communities.

More than $500,000 went to our partners at 2Life Communities, Chelsea Jewish Lifecare, Hebrew SeniorLife, and others for personal protective equipment and other critical resources and supplies needed for the care of older adults in our community.

“I don’t have a grandmother who lives locally, but now I feel I do. My buddy has become a mentor and gives me advice. She helps me think about my future career and what I might want to do with my life. This is definitely not a ‘pity call.’ She is giving me more than I am giving her.”
