Resources for Partner Organizations

LEAP

Save the Date for CJP’s next LEAP session: Launching Sustained Collaborations and Mergers on October 20 at 10:30 a.m. Based on the phenomenal attendance of our prior LEAP panel discussion on mergers and collaborations where CJP Board Member Ed Shapiro gave the keynote, we are holding another LEAP session on this topic to offer you more resources and supports. In the face of recovery, when nonprofits will be called on to do more — likely with fewer resources — mergers, joint ventures, programmatic and administrative partnerships, and other types of “sustained collaborations” can be tools to preserve, sustain, and grow impact. In this session, we will host a panel to discuss why nonprofits pursue sustained collaboration, how they approach the process, and what lessons they have learned along the way with much time for Q&A. CJP will provide all participants interested in exploring a formal collaboration with free and confidential follow up. Stay tuned for more information and register now for the session.  To find past LEAP materials click here.

Pro-Bono Expertise Reminder

CJP continues to expand our communal resources, including financial and legal pro-bono expertise, which you can find on this page. If you have ideas of additional ways that CJP can support you and your organizations during these challenging times, as always, please let us know.

JArts Microgrants for High Holidays

Knowing that many of us would crave fresh, creative, and virtual friendly ways to feel connected during the High Holidays, JArts has partnered up with our talented friends at Asylum Arts to give microgrants to five top artists from around the world. Their charge? To make something virtually accessible that excites, inspire, and steeps us all in the essence of the Days of Awe. To learn more, visit JewishBoston.com

Free Adult Learning Resources for Synagogues

CJP is pleased to invite synagogues to take advantage of three adult learning curricular options this year. We know that the demands on you are many. Hopefully, access to high quality curricula will help to ease this burden.

  • iEngage curriculum (There is no new curriculum this year, but curricula from past years are still available)
  • NEW: The Pardes Institute Mahloket Matters curriculum, with a text-based focus on civil discourse

All of these are offered to you at no charge to your institution. If you are interested, or are looking for further details, please email Rabbi Elyse Winick, CJP Senior Director of Learning and Education.

Important voting information to share

Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) successfully advocated for the passage of a bill that gives all eligible voters in Massachusetts the opportunity to vote early in the primary and general election, allows residents to vote-by-mail, and expands absentee ballot access. Help them get out the vote by sharing this information on safely voting during COVID in the general election on Tuesday, November 3.

Need volunteers?

CJP’s Women's Philanthropy (WP) is here to help! We have a group of dedicated women looking to donate their time to help your organization. Post your upcoming volunteer opportunities, and WP will signal boost those opportunities to our networks. Email Jillian if you have any questions.

Community Job Opportunities on cjp.org

Looking for talented staff?  CJP encourages all our partner organizations to post their job opportunities on cjp.org’s career center.  This webpage is a FREE way for you to advertise your open positions.

Jewish Vocational Services (JVS)

JVS has many programs and services available that we want to highlight for you. JVS strongly encourages individuals to sign up to be a member of JVS's MassHire Downtown Boston Career Center to access all their available services.

If synagogues or Jewish organizations have questions about individualized or group services for members, they can reach out to Jake Sugerman at jsugerman@jvs-boston.org.

MA Reopening and Covid Resources

Reopening of Massachusetts

The Baker-Polito Administration has developed a comprehensive plan to safely reopen the Massachusetts economy, get people back to work, and ease social restrictions while minimizing the health impacts of COVID-19. Learn more here .

The guidelines for child and youth serving program have been posted. They require providers to create detailed reopening plans that must be approved by the Department of Early Education and Care.

Small Business Administration Loan Program

The Small Business Administration announced that its Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) grant and loan program is open. This program offers long-term, low interest loans that can be used to cover payroll and inventory, pay debt or fund other expenses. Additionally, the EIDL Advance will provide up to $10,000 ($1,000 per employee) of emergency economic relief to businesses that are currently experiencing temporary difficulties, and these emergency grants do not have to be repaid.

Nonprofit Governance Bylaws and COVID-19
Massachusetts has issued new guidance to help nonprofit organizations manage their boards of directors and governance processes during COVID-19. Among other guidelines that provide flexibility, new legislation allows boards to meet virtually, even if an organization’s bylaws require in-person meetings. More information can be found here
