Fighting Antisemitism and Anti-Zionism

Update: Together with our community and our partners, we’ve built a proposed plan to combat Jew hate in all its forms. Read our 5-point plan.

Antisemitism is on the rise locally and globally—and whether in the form of subtle statements, vandalism, acts of violence, or anti-Zionism— it's all part of a dangerous and alarming pattern. 

Together with local partner organizations, we're confronting this head on because we know that when left unchecked, antisemitism and anti-Zionism endanger Jewish lives and fuel the growing epidemic of hate and divisiveness.  

At a disturbingly increasing rate, we're witnessing terrible events like the Brighton stabbing of Rabbi Shlomo Noginski and the near-tragic hostage situation in Colleyville, Texas. Our partners at The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) recorded 2,717 acts of assault, vandalism, and harassment in 2021 – a 29% increase over the previous year, and the highest number on record since they began tracking incidents in 1979.

Through CJP’s Communal Security Initiative (CSI), we're working with local synagogues, day schools, and agencies to better ensure the security and safety of our community. We provide training, funding, physical equipment, and resources to help create safer spaces to gather.  

We're working on an ongoing basis to confront antisemitism in all its forms by speaking out, leading rallies, supporting education, and engaging our community to create a future where every member of our society can gather freely and joyfully.  

But we can’t do this alone. We’ve assembled a dedicated group of community leaders and experts who serve on CJP's Fighting Antisemitism and Anti-Zionism Task Force to bring about positive change.  And through our CSI, we’ll continue developing innovative strategies alongside core partner organizations like the Jewish Community Relations Council of Greater Boston (JCRC), and ADL, who can play a powerful role in the fight against antisemitism.  

We’ll provide our community with not only the resources, but the confidence to stand against hate and build a stronger coalition of allies in Greater Boston.

Combating antisemitism and anti-Zionism in our community

  • Improving Safety and Security  

    In response to incidents of antisemitism in Greater Boston and beyond, we are whole-heartedly committed to helping organizations and individuals bolster safety in our community. We offer training, assessments, and consultations free of charge to Jewish institutions in the cities and towns that CJP serves. Funding of physical security improvements may also be available to qualifying organizations.

  • Investing in Teens, Campus Students, and Young Adults  

    We invest in and partner with organizations to combat antisemitism and rid our schools and campuses of hate. The relationships among partner organizations and community members are critical to ensuring a strong, united stance against antisemitism. Our partners educate students and the broader community about the Holocaust, genocide, antisemitism, and other forms of hate, and advocate for a more safe and secure environment for young Jewish people. 

  • Strengthening Community Relations  

    Deepening the Jewish community’s existing relationships with civic influencers in Greater Boston is the key to growing our coalition to fight hate. That’s exactly why we strategically fund programs in partnership with JCRC and ADL.
